B-A-C-K

I'm terribly sorry to this poor blog. I've been neglecting it for so long; okay I was mostly rather lazy to type out stuff and too busy with work and watching my wonderful DRAMAS:)

I shall start talking about all the diffeent things that happened! It's probably 2 weeks late but better late than never!

1. Yanquan's birthday cum Connect Singapore (8 Aug)
Yay to Yanquan becoming 1 year older; 1 year wiser. Okay, maybe not so because she's wise enough already what if all hr philosophies. I'll bet she will see this and realise this came SUPER SUPER SUPER late. I'm sorry that I didn't contribute any better ideas for your birthday present; I just wasn't thinking hard enough but I hope you still like the bag we all bought for you:) HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO MS YANQUAN!
Connect Singapore was not that great. I thought that everythin would have proceeded smoothly but something cropped up and it wasn't as smooth-sailing. Oh well, I suppose we still celebrated National Day alright. It was considered kind of refreshing. After all, it wasn't the usual cross country...

2. Council Outing (also 8 Aug)
After Connect Singapore, I left with Peishan and headed to her house. Haha she was forced to practise piano- the poor girl! Now you see why I was so reluctant to take electone exam. Ah well, I stopped anyway. I do hope this break is not indefinite though; I still think having certain musical skills are rather beneficial. Anyway, before Peishan was forced to practise the piano, we had lunch. It was really rather feng sheng. So many dishes and all; unlike whatever I eat at home. Then I played Sims while Peishan was practising. I'm terrible at that. But hey, you got to understand the last time I got in touch with this game was watching my pri sch friend Ying Qi play it; I wasn't even the one playing it. And I must say I was really impressed by Peishan's brother amazing hacking skills hahaha (although I only heard it but did not witness it personally). But I thank my lucky stars that that's not my brother. I realise I digress a lot and haven't even touched on Council Outing.
Anyway, Peishan and I soon arrived at Nicolette's house. We sprayed our hair (yuck I still hate pink colour; orange is not as bad), played quite a bit of games and ate a lot. Mr Lim was nice and brought ice-cream and told ghost stories (although I only heard a bit of the first one because I predicted the second would be scarier). I got to watch only a bit of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics Games. Then we went down and I know there was a lot of things in between but we celebrated our farewell for the seniors YAY! I think Yuanyuh and Zhiting were very stressed trying hard to keep the surprise a surprise. HAHA. I think the files to the seniors were very nice!I also want one hahahaha. Then we sprayed Mr Lim's head 'CSS'. He's such a great sport! Thanks to Mr Lim too, I (plus Siming and Yuanyuh and maybe there was someone else too but I forgot already) got to go home safely.

3. Team Outing
The NYNB B DIV outing was at my house hahaha. It's so rare that any important occasions are held at my house. Anyway, this is the second time that I have a whole hoard of netballers at my house (the first being my dear teammates from St. Nicks). Anyway, I was too busy running around to take note how the rest were enjoying themselves. I know vaguely that people played tennis, volleyball, monkey in the function room, badminton and illegally swam in the pool. (SIGHS) I swam legally with Jiaen in the pool though. The BBQ ended a lot later than whatever we expected. There was too much food but I loved it all the same. I loved the marshmallows and satay especially. Jiaen's sotong was pretty interesting too. I'm glad the whole team managed to bond. But I'm also kind of disappointed that some people were missing... GRACE, VALERIE, JIAMIN, CHEN JUAN...I suppose we can enjoy chalet together!

4. Beijing Olympic Games 2008 (8 Aug- 24 Aug)
I just love watching all the different sports. My favourites are of course swimming, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, diving and athletics. I'm really glad that China topped the medal tally! CHINA ROCKS! Olympic Games seriously made me super excited to go to Beijing at the end of the year and I just can't wait to buy many many souvenirs. I shall make a mental note to keep reminding myself after end-of-year exams to bring back pool water from the Water Cube for dear Katherine (the No. 1 Phelps fan). The athletes I admire/am impressed by are: Anna Bessonova, Olga Kaparanova, Evgeniya Kanaeva, He Kexin, Cheng Fei, Yang Wei, Zou Kai, Nastia Liukin, Shawn Johnson, Michael Phelps (I bet Katherine will be PLEASED), Park Tae Wan, Kosuke Kitajima, Libby Trickett, Jessica Schipper, Guo Jing Jing, Chen Ruolin, Russian Synchronised Swmming Duets, Russian Synchronised Swimming Team, China Synchronised Swimming Duets and Twins, China Synchronised Swimming Team, Usain Bolt, Tia Hellebaut, Andrey Silnov, Steve Hooker, Li Jia Wei, Feng Tian Wei, Wang Yue Gu, Zhang Yi Ning, Guo Yue, Brazil Women Volleyball Team, Spain long distance cycling champion.

5. Singapore's Silver Medal in 48 Years (17 Aug)
I was totally jumping up and down and extremely glad that we finally got an Olympic medal after so long! The table tennis players rock; especially Feng Tian Wei who was the one who played well under such great stress. I had been hoping for a holiday since it was such a great feat but oh well. It's great though that Singapore has made history!

6. Asian Languages Day
I thought it was quite boring but I do agree that I gain a greater insight to budaya melayu. But the food supplies there are seriously either too l**** or insufficient. Not my cup of tea. But I thank them for planning it.

7. Qing Ying's Birthday (22 Aug)
I felt so sorry that I didn't think much for her birthday. My thinking skills seem to have sapped after Hoon's birthday. It's degrading hahahaha. But I hope she loved the jacket and the belated birthday song we sang for her yesterday! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY QINGYING!

8. Teachers' Day
I spent really really long just trying to make those cards. Hoped the teachers liked them. I liked them so much myself that I took a picture of each of them. Thanks Katherine for sharing the presents with me! And making half of the cards:) I particularly enjoyed the Teachers' Day Celebrations. Mr Chia is a great emcee I realised. I find that NY teachers are all really sporting. They are all so very different from my teachers in SNG. NY's atmosphere is just different. It's such a more welcoming family that SNG although my past principal emphasised so much on SNG being a second home to us students. Nevertheless, I hope the teachers have a HAPPY TEACHERS' DAY!

9. Sheryn
I hope she feels honoured that I mentioned her in my post hahaha. I think it's fun talking to her and reading her blog. But I seriously hope she can cope with studies after she returns to Singapore. I don't know why (although I've been chided that there's nothing great about studying somewhere else/migrating) but I kind of envy her for studying overseas. It must be so refreshing. But Sheryn, please stop being so blatant about the people you hate there. It's better to make a friend than a foe:)

10. Translation Competition
I was really impressed when I stepped into Chung Cheng. Everything was so Chinese and culture-like. It's like one of those beautiful schools in Beijing or China. The school area is simply HUGE. And so are the neighbouring landed estates. They are MAGNIFICENT. I think the translation was okay but I wasn't really sure if I should do word-for-word or do it according to my meaning. I thought we were supposed to keep the same form for the quotes... But there were a couple of Chinese words which I couldn't find in the dictionary. It was so coincidental that I saw Chen Xi too! Liu lao shi was very nice to accompany us and wait for Seok Ting and I. I don't mind going for such competitions in future. I can hone my translation skills hahaha.

I haven't been sticking to the fitness program. Stupid rain and stupid BRAIN. I shall exercise tomorrow. I can't play badminton now because the floor is so wet I'll just slip and land on my butt.

I must exercise 5 times next week. EVERYDAY! And play badminton on Saturday and Sunday.
I'm wondering if I will be able to defend better if I improve my flexibility... Hmm... (random yeah I know)

GO YUXUAN!

BREAKING DAWN AGAIN!

I finished the book. And when I googled it again this time, there were loads of criticisms. I mean what? Why is it that everytime a cool popular series has concluded, people complain?! I believe that was the same with Harry Potter. Ok, I agree that the ending wasn't all that satisfying. Sure, there was an epilogue but I thought it didn't give the reader a fair share of knowing EVERYTHING about what happened in the end. I ended up searching online again to find out more detailed epilogues about each Harry Potter character through JK Rowling's interviews and stuff.

But Breaking Dawn, I kind of agree that the plot was a bit surprising. I mean those stuff did sound a bit like a fan fiction so I had chosen not to believe it although I did catch something of that sort while searching for spoilers. I only believed it after reading the book. But still, I thought Stephenie Meyer's ending was much better. It felt more wholesome, like at least you know Bella and Edward and Renesmee are going to live happily ever after FOREVER. It's lucky that they are all having immortal traits. It's easier to end. But how can people just criticise the book and hate the author overnight? She really did do a good job. Breaking Dawn IS kind of different from the rest in the series but her whole writing style is still there. Anyway I enjoyed the book and will not be wavered by those hate-stephenie-meyer fans. After all, she put in so much effort to make sure her fans get to enjoy the book; not hate it.

Jeez but I'm still quite depressed it's OVER. There's a glimmer of hope that there will be more books coming out but probably in TEN years' time? SIGH. I will have to go through this again just like I did with Harry Potter.

I NEVER REGRETTED KNOWING ABOUT STEPHENIE MEYER AND READING HER BOOKS. HAH.

I shall separate out and write other stuff now. I got back quite a few papers today. SIGH. I'm not pleased. I'm disappointed. I'm guilty. I feel REGRET. I really need to make up for everything. As for beep test, I didn't try hard enough. Sigh, I need to make up for A LOT of things.

I have also discovered my fatal FLAWS. One, I'm overly pessimistic before something, to the extent of exaggeration. Two, I'm still rather pessimistic but ok focused(that's a good thing) during the process. Three, I'm overly optimistic after. Why can't I be more opposite?

OK I MUST PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH MYSELF! I shall keep to the er working out schedule. It seems tiring and I probably wont have time but I need to try....

BREAKING DAWN!

I'm dying of the suspense. It seems everyone around me has read already and I can only get the book tomorrow. The entire plot is on wikipedia and I'm just going to faint. I will not read it. I will not read it. I will psycho myself here to NOT read it. AHHHHHHHHHHHH! How to sleep tonight?

I think I will go mad tomorrow. TOMORROW!
