HUMAN NATURE?

It's like everyone starts commenting after reading jiamin's blog. I read it first I suppose and its quite sad yes. But not till the extent that I'm crying. I understand and I pity her but I can't help feeling a little irritated, maybe angry, that she does not think of us her teammates, as FRIENDS at all. Surely we have to have trust between us. Even if we don't talk, surely you know that there's a kind of bond there. It doesn't have to be shown through actions or words like: SO AND SO, you are my friend. Friendship is boundless and cannot be measured. I sincerely hope Jiamin understands that we are both friends and teammates. Teammates are friends too. It isn't like in the real world where, business and family/friends are 2 different things. Playing netball is our job but teammates are also our friends. Jiamin, if you reading my post, I hope you understand that. You are not unwanted. Many people who care about you are around you. You will always have someone to rely on so don't think that way. You not only feel bad yourself, but others will start to feel guilty and think what have they done wrong to make you think them not as a friend. Tomorrow will be a brighter day. Money matters aren't something we should interfere with. If things get too unhappy at home, just concentrate on being a student. What matters most is your own future.

Hope you remember that
TOMORROW WILL BE A BRIGHTER DAY.

NETBALL EVENTS

Judging by the lack of posting I have done these few days, I decided to condense everything into one short post.

Monday we had friendly against STC and I saw ADELINE:D We won the friendly by a bit coz we weren't really playing seriously and I played badly too. I was almost late for the friendly because I didn't know it was on that day and could not go on the bus the school hired together with the rest. Therefore, I had to hire a cab there. That was such a lucky thing for me to be able to arrive just on time.

That night there was a great uproar about camp. Camp was halfway cancelled and then everyone wanted the camp to be back on and finally at 10pm plus we were told that camp was back on. So I had to pack hastily and did not have a good sleep.

Camp was all training, focus, effort and friendly. Shan't go into detail. There was a farewell party for Ms Chang, loads of junk food, ice-cream and bonding sessions too. I came home aching and still aching. The HCI friendly was quite fruitful; gave me a chance to get on court again.

Blaze training was not too tiring thank god. It was just courtwork. I realise I still need to improve much. Need to prepare for carnival on Dec 9. Still aching.

Swimming the next morning and still aching. I know this has got nothing to do with netball but I'm just going through what happened.

Went to Labarador Park to walk or stuff. It looks like a beach there even though its supposed to be a nature reserve. Reminds me of Sentosa and I want to go there...haven't been there in 5 years.

END OF EVENTS. (some not netball i know but who cares)

AMAZINGLY SHIOK!

After finish posting about my recent holiday, I decided to post about the Malay Amazing Race- AMAZINGLY SHIOK since I promised zexin I would. After looking at zexin's blog, I realised she hadn't kept her promise. DOTS. (oops shouldn't say it too often or else cheryl lee will dot me).

It was a wet, gloomy, pessimistic, raining day. I could not stand it. I was drenched- my jeans were soaked (totally soaked as in the whole pair not juz the bottom part); half my shirt was wet and I was quite miffed about it even though we had another shirt. Worst of all, my phone got soaked. The battery was wet, the screen had water inside. I'm DEAD MEAT. NO PHONE EUGH.

Then we went to Raffles Hospital toilets to change into our shirts because there were no other toilets available. After that, we went to this big tentage near this weird building and played some icebreaker games, rather normal. I was in this group called Tuk Jangut (I'm not sure if I spelt it correctly) and was in the same group as Si Lei. Apparently this name was a hero's name who fought in WWII and it means Beard Grandfather? Kind of weird but never mind. We had mi siam for breakfast/lunch and it was quite nice. I enjoyed it.

Then the race began. We had to keep searching around the area of Kampung Glam and perform all sorts of weird things or play some traditional malay games to keep moving on to the next station. Some of the malays in our group were really pro at translating for us! We performed the dikay barat (I dunno the correct spelling again) which is really this performance where we sing and clap. We even performed in front of a group of tourists AHAHAA. Then after really really long, we reached our last and final station. We had to perform for Cik Fatima who is kinda like the overall-in-charge and only if she thought our performance was good, then she would let us off for lunch. We decided on doing the dikay barat again but then she said ours did not reflect what we felt about the entire race and we kept doing again and again. Finally we were given approval to leave and we were all ravenous by then.

Lunch was really quite interesting. It was the first time ever I ate with my hand and of course, I made a terrible mess. The food was quite nice though but a bit too much. There was quite a lot of wastage which was really a pity so maybe the cook should have reduced the portions for us. After lunch, the facilitators annoucned the top 2 groups of the day and our group was SECOND! WOOOOOOO! We achieved second apparently coz our dikay barat performance was funny or something so we had to perform our dikay barat again. The price was some malay traditional play things like the chaptek and the five stones and all that. After that we took many photos which was really tiring coz some of them had to bend down and some had to stand up and everyone had to squeeze to fit in.

Finally everything ended and Zexin and I walked around in Bugis for a while. That was the end of the Malay Heritage Amazingly Shiok Race:D

There you go, Zexin, I posted.

BACK FROM GOLD COAST!

I'm kind of having a splitting headache from the midnight flight back and there's lots of phlegm stuck in my throat but never mind, I shall post about the holiday:D

SUNDAY 4NOV

There wasn't anything eventful about the ride to the airport so I shall skip that. I was basically sniffing along the way there and then we checked in our luggage. After that we had to pass customs and we decided to try the new way of using the passport by putting your thumbprint. It wasn't great at all for me coz I have sweaty palms and stuff so the print came out as one spot without anything else so I couldn't pass. Thank god the officers there let me off coz it was the first time. (But I took care to wipe my fingers many many times on the return trip) After that we went to the lounge and ate quite a bit. On the plane, it was really fun. I'm surprised at myself for bringing the algebra holiday homework along; I suppose I wanted to kind of pass time on the plane.

The plane trip was quite fun and it was so coincidental that my brother met his ex-classmate of 4 years there! So 有缘分! I watched Transformers and it's such a great movie! The action and scenes are just so realistic; it really IS well-filmed. I played a bit of the nintendo games also to pass my time; after all where else would I get to play NINTENDO GAMES but the on the plane? :D The meals were rather nice on board... We had 2 meals: 1 was lunch and another was kind of like refreshment or tea. For lunch, I had this fillet thing with potatoes and carrots as well as salad with ham and bread. For refreshment/tea, I had this smoked salmon sandwich which I thought was kind of raw but loved it since I love SASHIMI! There was ferrero rocher too! SO NICE!!! And for dessert there was MAGNUM ICE-CREAM! Never had such a splendid meal before!!

We finally touched down in Brisbane at around 7pm so we went to the airport to hire bus transport service to reach Gold Coast. We reached Gold Coast at about 9pm and decided to shop around and I must say, the hotel reception people are so nice and friendly (1 of them was from Singapore too!).

MONDAY 5NOV

We went to Dreamworld on Monday and it was sooo FUN! We took this river rapid ride and my mom was SHRIEKING coz she got splashed when we passed through one of those rapids. She was seriously a hilarious sight as she was complaining about her wet back (not to be mean, but seriously she looked funny!) Then we took another ride-a river log ride; but none of us were really very wet because we didn't get splashed much:D We also took the hanging coaster, boat ride, motocoaster(this one was really really fun!). Sad thing was we didn't take the BIG 5 which were the 5 most scariest rides coz my brother was too scaredy cat and didn't dare to take it with me so I couldn't take it too. GRR. Dinner and shopping after that so nothing eventful. Oh by the way, my dear brother met ANOTHER classmate (not ex) coincidentally checking in at OUR hotel. He must have many friends. It was so coincidental that my dad started asking him whether so-and-so was his friend whenever he saw little boys about his age throughout the trip. And this friend of his has a sister in Nanyang who is same age as me but a pity I don't know her name.

TUESDAY 6NOV

We went to Movieworld! Movieworld is way better than Dreamworld coz its newer and its also way more fun! It was a pity though that the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster was closed; I heard that it was really thrilling!! We took the Wild West Adventure Falls right and got real soaked! There was this part where the boat juz zoomed backwards and went down and we were totally taken aback and the last drop to the bottom was just THRILLING! We got totally splashed coz the drop was rather high; to those netballers who went escape for the wet ride; this is WAY more fun and WAY wetter! Then there were quite a few shows that we watched- the 4D Shrek show which had audience seats moving about and was so realistic (the spiders scuttering around actually kind of shocked me coz I could feel stuff crawling over legs; also when Shrek galloped on a horse, the audience was galloping too! SO FUN!) We also watched the police academy stunt show and the guy acting was hilarious- they kept banging into poles and acting stupid and falling and one guy fell from the roof! The stunts were really amazing! My brother and I took the Batwing which was this freefall ride though it wasn't as scary as the Abyss in Ocean Park. It was a pity we did not take Lethal weapon which was this hanging coaster that twisted and turned so many times you keep going upside down HANGING! My brother chickened out again.

But the highlight of the day was the SUPERMAN ESCAPE! I took it without my brother and it was called the MRT- Metropolis Rapid Transit (kinda like our train) and there were sliding doors juz like the MRT stations in Singapore which slide open for you to board. Now this ride's scary (or thrilling to me) point is that you go from 0-100km per hour in 2 seconds and you go up really high and come down at an almost 90degrees angle which means vertically down even though its a roller coaster. It was WAY cool. When I went up to the highest point the thing kinda slowed down obviously but I thought we had come down but then the rush was so good that you got the feeling that your stomach kinda dropped or sunk down (I dunno if you know that kind of feeling) and I kept having this cool feeling throughout the ride coz there was 3 of these go-up-come-down kinda structure though only the first one was almost 90degrees angle; the rest were less steep. If you ever go to Movieworld, I seriously reccommend that ride. IT ROCKS!

More dinner and shopping:D

WEDNESDAY 7NOV

We went to Wet N Wild Water World today and it wasn't that great. Firstly the weather was terrible- raining and cold. We were freezing even before the park opened (We were wearing shirt and shorts and a sweater). It was 12 degrees but my dad, brother and I decided to just try out almost all the rides despite freezing cold weather. My brother was in huge trouble coz he did not wear a wet suit on top and only his swimming trunks so his teeth were chattering throughout. Eventually he had to stop but my dad and I carrried on. I seriously think I could have burned loads of fats in that weather. If you have been in such cold weather in your swimsuit; you would have thought the same. My mom did not take any rides coz she was looking after our stuff and buying us hot chocolate to keep warm. I shall stop talking about the coldness but it really makes Singapore feel warm. I don't even complain about the cold rainy days during my swimming lessons now after this incident.

The rides were great. First my brother and I went to dip in the wave pool which had SALTY water in it; kinda like seawater. The waves hadn't started yet but we were too freezing cold to care. Then we took Mammoth Falls which was supposed to be a family ride so it was really gentle but freezing cold(I'm about to repeat this word many many times throughout this recount). It wasn't thrilling enough for me though:D. Then we went to the wave pool again and the waves started. The waves were huge and bigger and better than the one in Afarmosa. Then we went to take the Tornado and this was the real freezing cold part! As we sat and put our stuff in a place not so near the ride we had to chiong and run real long to reach the station. I'm telling you if you think running brings wind and makes you colder; walking is WORSE. We ran like crazy because of the cold and I must have passed my limits for speed because the cold was pushing us even though I don't really run so fast.

Anyway back to the Tornado. Its this ride where you sit in a cloverleaf-shaped tube and you go down this steep tunnel into a funnel where you rock side to side. Only thing is if you sit in a not so advantageous position, you will go down the tunnel before the funnel backwards and you go up real high in the funnel as you rock coz you are the one to feel the impact of gravity first. My brother was in such a position and coz of that, he ripped a hole in my dad's shorts (my dad let him wear for fear he would freeze in the cold). But other than that its really fun. GO TAKE IT if you go there. It's the best ride so far. Best in the sense that it's thrilling (besides the surfrider which is like viking only you go up in a surfboard-shaped boat up a u-shaped track and swivel around in your seat which I didn't get to take coz no one would accompany me).

Then we took the blackhole which is this ride through pitch black tunnels (kinda like space mountain in disneyland which you take in the dark) Only thing is we could see a little bit of light and the tunnels looked kinda of creepish dark green. Coincidentally, the twists and turn in the blackhole are kind of like space mountain! This ride is quite fun and my dad enjoyed it a lot. It's actually a tube ride where 2 people sit in a tube at one time so I took with my brother first then I took again with my dad. I don't find this as thrilling though but still its quite fun.

There was another ride we took- Terror Canyon (I took first with my dad coz my bro was trying to keep warm and did not follow but stayed with my mom) Also a tube ride like blackhole and is pitch black(even darker) but there was this part where you go through this strip of regulating strips(sounds like singapore roads:D) and water sprays up at you. Twists and turns quite nice but the last drop before you get out is GREAT. A real FUN drop. Then my dad and I took the twister which is a body ride(no tubes allowed) and it looks kind of intimidating on the outside but when you take it its just turning but I got kinda choked by the water. There's a lot of speed involved so for guys who wear swimming trunks, you got to check if you're still wearing it after the ride.

My brother and I also took the Aquaracer 8 which is this ride where you lie stomach down on a piece of float and go down and see who reaches the finishing line fast. It's kinda mile except for the drops which you can get A BIT of thrill and obviously only those will larger mass will have more kinetic energy to move faster and win. My brother was too light that he couldn't reach it at all and he almost got stuck. HAHA. That's the disadvantage of being too skinny.

There were other rides which were normal like river rapids (kind of expected at water theme parks like these) so I shan't go furhter into it. I still like Tornado though.

Dinner and less shopping.

THURSDAY 8NOV

Today is acutally our departure day but the flight's a midnight flight so we were departing at 1145pm. We spent quite a wu liao day coz we just shopped and shopped so it was even getting a little tiring and boring towards the end. But finally we departed and was on the plane. The midnight flight was hell for me. Even though I watched No Reservations and played some nintendo games again, I felt like vomitting halfway through. I finished the supper which consisted of fried rice but didn't even touch the breakfast meal at all because I kept feeling like I was going to throw up. I had to keep holding on to the bag provided. It was terrible.

ALL IN ALL, IT WAS A GREAT HOLIDAY EXCEPT FOR THE MIDNIGHT FLIGHT. I ATE A LOT AND HAVE DEFINITELY GAINED LOADS OF WEIGHT AND WILL UNDOUBTEDLY GROW FATTER. SIGH. I'M TYPING IN CAPS BECAUSE THIS IS THE CONCLUSION SO I WANT IT TO BE IN CAPS. AFTER THIS TRIP, MY FITNESS SUCKS LIKE HELL. SAD.

YUM YUM YUM!

FOOD FEST:
We went out for lunch today at adam rd hawker centre. Was not very eventful but I still love the food there. The prawn noodle was simply fantastic! Then we went to island creamery for dessert; YUM YUM YUM! We shared a tub of nutella first and I think its quite nice and all and its cheaper than the daily scoop outside my house. Then we still wanted more and evelyn mentioned she wanted something sour. So liyi suggested eating sorbet/sherbert and we thought of strawberry at first but we thought it might be sweet, not sour. Then there was soursop so because of the name, we chose it. And I didn't like it at all. It wasn't sour and just tasted weird. Maybe because I've never really tasted or liked soursop since young so I didn't eat too much. But we had a nice chat afterwards till 2.30.

Now I'm stuck at home while my brother went to alex's house. I was trying to kill time by playing audition and trying to chance but I still can't get the hang of it and I'm just so lousy at all the keys in dance battle 4. GRRR. I'm getting sick sick sick of it. I shall be looking forward to sunny (actually not very coz the temp. there can be as low as 19 degrees according to my mom)Gold Coast!
